On August 18, 2019, a pastor called on his congregation not to be centered on their idols and worship the one and only true God.

In Dalian Fengshou Church of Liaoning, the church's senior pastor, Rev. Zhao Yonggang, chairman of Dalian Three-Self Patriotic Movement, preached a message of not centering around idolatry based on Exodus 12:37.

The pastor explained the how Christians grew to maturity. The first of the 42 stops in the wilderness was from Rameses to Succoth. Then at the end of the next 430 years, all the Lord's divisions had left Egypt, according to Exodus 12:40-41.

He said that if we wanted to be real Christians, we should forsake our idols, whether visible or invisible, and get rid of the "Rameses" in our hearts in order to walk step by step towards the land flowing with milk and honey. He mentioned that "idolatry" in the society, like worshiping the god of wealth, was useless because "it is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in men or princes" (Psalm 118:8-9). He exhorted the congregation to rely on God, the real one, wholeheartedly, and not to worship idols.

After the sermon, some people prayed the prayer to accept Jesus as their savior.

Rev. Zhao also presided over the next two communion services, and his prayers, appealed to the worshipers to honor their parents and love their neighbors as themselves.
