Powerful Typhoon Lekima brought days of torrential rain to Lin'an District, arousing a flood and mudslides after making landfall in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. According to a Beijing news report, as of August 12, 2019, authorities said that the death toll in Lin'an District reached seven.

On Aug 19, the pastoral staff and church representatives of the Lin'an District Christian Council & Three-Self Patriotic Movement (CC&TSPM) drove to visit brothers and sisters living in the worst affected area in Lin'an's western mountainous region, Changbei Town.

More than ten local Christians suffered from different levels of loss in the mudslides. The most serious case was that of a believer's house that was all flattened, with the owner getting broken ribs. A sister was washed away by the flood and found dead a few days after. The effects also included houses getting soaked, furniture swept away, and a massive hickory field destroyed in the flood.

According to specific suffering conditions, the team gave a total fund of about 58,000 yuan to more than ten families of affected believers.
