On July 18, 2020, Christian basketball player Jeremy Lin said in a video on Sina Weibo that his foundation will create a fund to support bookmobiles, appealing to people to help improve the conditions of migrant children in China.

He added that the fund of 168,000 yuan would be partially donated to mobile libraries for children in cooperation with Wavelib, an organization that supports small public libraries.

He posted, “Everyone has the right to their dreams. I’m very fortunate that I have realized my dream. I want to thank my family, friends, teammates, teachers, and coachs who have encouraged me and given me help in many areas. Numerous migrant children need more resources to help them reach their dreams. It may begin from a library that helps be happier and open the door to their dreams.”

That’s why my Sanfen Heart Public Welfare will join Wavelib of @New Citizen Project #Sanfen Heart# We have collected 168,000 yuan and part of the donation will be used to create an environment that will be safe and happy for children to learn better. Certainty, the donations are limited, so I encourage you to join us.”

In September 2019, Lin shared on Sina Weibo, China’s Twitter, that he would donate 3,000 yuan to non-profit groups each time he makes a three-point shot. His shoes will also be given to his fans.

He stated that basketball is his hobby and dream, but there are many people who need help and encouragement as they are on the journey to realize their dreams.

Many fans were touched and willing to join him.

A comment read, “I can’t donate too much, but I want to be in this with you.”
