According to the Guangzhou office of the China Christian Council & Three-Self Patriot Movement, the symposium entitled "The Historical Progress and Local Practice of Sinicization of Christianity" was held in Guangzhou on November 9-10, 2018.

At the opening ceremony sponsored by the provincial CCC & TSPM and South China Normal University's Study Center of Religion in South China, Rev. Feng Hao, president of the Guangzhou TSPM, hoped that the meeting would help the church in Guangzhou promote the sinicization of Christianity at a broader and deeper level.

Attended by 130 people, keynote speeches were given by professors, Zhuo Xinping, researcher at the Institute of World Religion of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Paulos Huang from the department of philosophy at the University of Helsinki, to name a few. Topics included the concept and aim of sinicizing Christianity, a theology of soul and body, and the separation of church and state in modern society.
