On June 24, 2020, before the Dragon Boat Festival that fell on last Thursday, the co-workers of the Nanzhan Church, Dongfeng County, Liaoyuan City visited poor households and donated daily necessities and traditional food for the Dragon Boat Festival (Zongzi).

They visited 15 poor families in Taisheng Village of Dongfeng Town; most of them are poor due to illness, according to the church. In one family the mother was more than 70 years old with her 45-year old son who suffers from mental illness and other diseases, and can not take care of himself. Upon receiving the donations from the church, the elderly was moved to tears and expressed her gratitude.

In another villager's house, there were five people in the family. The father was an alcoholic, the mother suffered from dementia, and has been blind since soon after her marriage. The son was 15 years old, studying at school. The church’s sympathy brought laughter to a family who is very difficult circumstances. Although the family's problems cannot be solved, the love of the church still brought them warmth and made them feel that there are others who are concerned about them.

Pastor Liu Xuesong, the senior pastor of the church, said that the church should follow the teachings of the Bible to be salt and light, helping vulnerable groups in society.
