On September 10, 2019, the launch ceremony of Shishi's eighth "religious charity week" was held. Representatives of local officials and leaders of the five major religions in China from Shishi, Fujian province attended it.

The nationwide week for religious charity campaign was first initiated by China's State Administration of Religious Affairs in September 2012.

The donation ceremony was held and involved contributing to eight charity projects, two of which are funded by the Christian community in Shishi. The Shishi Christian Council & Three-Self Patriotic Movement (CC&TSPM) donated 100,000 yuan to support an interactive multimedia reading room in a local elementary school, while the Shishi Church contributed 60,000 yuan to Xinhua community.

On Aug 25, the Shishi CC&TSPM gave a donation of 60,000 yuan to the Shishi Charity Federation for poverty relief.

Last year the two Christian organizations also took part in the campaign, giving two donations.
