Fans of the London Philharmonic Orchestra still have a chance to catch the group in action in China as the Orchestra will be wrapping up their Chinese tour on January 5 and 6 at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing.
The Orchestra, under the direction of Russian conductor Vasily Petrenko, will be performing H.Berlioz's 'Overture to Beatrice et Benedict' and P.I. Tchaikovsky's 'Fantasia on Romeo and Juliet and Variations on a Rococo Theme Op. 33' alongside Swedish-Danish cellist Andreas Brantelid.
This is not the first time the London Philharmonic will be performing at the NCPA as the group have performed in the NCPA a year after it was opened in 2008. This time, the group's return to perform in the prestigious location coincides with the NCPA's 10th anniversary.The group has also performed in China in 1973 and became the first Western symphony orchestra to perform in the country after the People's Republic of China was founded.
The London Philharmonic Orchestra was established in 1932, specializing in opera music. As they grew, the orchestra became a favorite in the United Kingdom and globally, performing in top festivals and other important events.
