A church in Sichuan was designated as a vaccination site last Tuesday for the first time.

In China’s southwestern Sichuan Province, Gospel Church in Dongpo District, Meishan City, was crowded that morning, according to CCC&TSPM. The gate, sanctuary, training building, stairs, canteen and parking lot of the church were all marked with the indication Centralized Point for COVID-19 Vaccination.

In combination with the hardware condition of the church, they set up consultation, registration, vaccination, and observation areas, while the isolation belts and guiding signs were clearly discernible.

Gan Suzhen, deputy director of the District CC&TSPM and the person in charge of logistics at the scene, said that 1,700 doses of vaccine were provided that day and people from nearby came to queue up at 4:00 in the morning. Arriving early at the church, believers assisted in services, including cleaning, helping maintain order, and providing tea for the people in the church.

It was the only place for vaccination among all the religious sites in the city and the church would stay open for it until the end of July, local government authorities said.
