Four Christians Sentenced for Selling Audio Bible Players

Four Christians were sentenced to years for selling audio Bible players after the recent trial last December.

On July 16, the Bao’an District Court of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, convicted four Christian employees of Shenzhen’s “Tree of Life Technology Co., Ltd” of “committing illegal business operations”.

Born in Guangxi in 1978, Fu Xuanjuan, the legal representative of the company which sold electronic Bible players that are popular among elderly rural Christians with weak vision, was said to be sentenced to six years with a fine of 200,000 yuan, according to an unidentified source.

Deng Tianyong, who was responsible for auditing and managing audio Bible content, serves a term of three years in prison with a penalty of 50,000 yuan.

Feng Qunhao, a technician whose work included copying and burning the Bible-related videos and after-sales maintenance, was sentenced to two-and-a-half years with a 30,000 yuan fine.

Han Li, a receptionist and finance employee also in charge of the company’s packaging and transportation affairs, faced up to one year and three months in jail, fined 10,000 yuan.

In addition, six types of audio Bible players, two mainframe computers, and other four computers were confiscated.

On December 9, 2020, the four were tried for the second instance, charged with “illegal business operations.” Local courts suggested that Fu be sentenced to five years and the other three to one-and-a-half to three years, all with fines.
