Various Fujian Churches Close Due to Second Wave of COVID-19

Many churches in Fujian last Saturday announced the suspensions of in-person gatherings till further notice.

On September 11, Putian Church in Fujian Province, Nanmen Church in Xianyou County, Flower Lane Church in Fuzhou, and Qingyang Church in Jinjiang City successively issued notices of a halt to all onsite services.

In addition, Ningde Beimen Church in Fujian and the New District Church of Xiamen City also made an announcement on their official WeChat accounts, stating that believers who were from Putian or had symptoms of fever, cough, and fatigue could not enter the church to worship God.

According to reports, two students (brothers) at a primary school in Fengting Town, Xianyou County, Putian City, Fujian Province, had tested positive in spot checks. Immediately nucleic acid sampling was expanding, and 4 people (1 student and 3 parents) were found to be infected with the virus. As of 18:00 on September 10, there were a total of 6 confirmed cases.

As of Sunday (September 13) at midnight, the city of Putian in Fujian reported 35 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases and 32 local asymptomatic carriers, according to China Daily.
