A training course on "Adhering to the Sinicization of Christianity" was held in Shanghai.

Rev. Xu Xiaohong, chairman of the Chinese Christian Three-Self Patriotic Movement Committee (TSPM), and Rev. Xu Yulan, chairman of the Shanghai TSPM, were invited to give lectures on March 30 in Abundant Grace (or Hong’en) Church, located in the station of Pudong CC&TSPM, reported CCC&TSPM.

Shanghai CC&TSPM said that the commissions of ethnic and religious affairs and branch CC&TSPMs in Pudong New Area and Putuo District organized the course, attended by more than 70 local pastoral workers and officials.

In his speech titled "Do a Good Job in Religious Work in the New Era and Adhere to the Principle of Developing Christianity in the Chinese Context," Rev. Xu Xiaohong shared that the sinicization of Christianity had epochal character, direction, function, and cultural traits. He said people could understand it from the four aspects of political identity, social adaptation, cultural integration, and respect for faith, followed by the introduction of the practice of promoting the sinicization of Christianity in Chinese churches.

In the afternoon, Rev. Xu Yulan urged pastoral staff to adhere to the sinicization policy and the "three-self" course of self-preaching, self-governing, and self-supporting and continue to love the country and the church. They were requested to protect the holy call they have received from God, fulfill the mission of the church, demonstrate virtue by pursuing spiritual maturity, and integrate themselves into groups to serve.
