For Changsha native, laywoman Sister Hou is not well-off in life. She is a single parent to three daughters while helping out in the church in whatever way she can.

However, despite her financial status, she has been helping out seminary students with financial assistance. She donated one thousand yuan for one undergraduate seminary student each semester. She even gave four students financial assistance at the same time worth five hundred yuan per semester.

According to Sister Hou, her assistance to these students is due to her third daughter who also serves in the church. In the past, Sister Hou thought that seminary students and preachers were never short of money. However, when her daughter started working in the church, she told her that these seminary students and the preachers were in a precarious financial situation. Sister Hou started to assist when she heard this and hoped that these seminarians and preachers get more assistance from the public.

However, this hope is slightly marred as she sees that a large percentage of rich Christians do not hear the voice from God that calls them to help these students and prefer to buy expensive items rather than donate.

While she is just a laywoman and know that is isn't her obligation to help or persuade other believers in helping these students, she still assists these students. She did suggest once to a brother who attends the Church's morning prayer meetings to purchase Bible players to assist seminary students besides praying.

It is Sister Hou's hope that her third daughter marries a seminary graduate. Her second daughter married to a preacher who graduated from the seminary.
