In the 7th year of the Walk for Living Water (WLW), Amity is organizing the Walk 2017 with the theme “Water and Wastewater”, in order to raise public awareness on the global water crisis, and to raise funds for building solar showers for the students of the Qinghai Heimahe Primary School in Qinghai Province in Mainland China.
Walk for Living Water (WLW) is a fundraising walkathon that is organized by Amity Foundation, Hong Kong. Participants take up the challenge of walking for miles while shoulder carrying water using bamboo poles and buckets.
WLW aims to raise funds to support both Amity water facility construction projects in poor areas in China and the advocacy work to raise awareness of the global water crisis. WLW2017 makes the 7th time for Amity Foundation Hong Kong organize the event in response to UN World Water Day campaign that aims to inform, engage and inspire action. Funds raised from the past 6 WLWs enabled construction of a total of 15 water facilities ranging from village drinking water systems to primary school shower rooms.
