A single male believer born in the 1990s shared something about his sins against holiness in sex, and it has bothered him for a long time.

Brother Xiaoshi (an assumed name) is a northerner less than 30 years old this year. Without being highly educated, he has read the Bible eight times and has a firm faith. He finds that the more he reads the Bible, the more he feels he is a sinner who cannot be without Jesus. After work, he also tries to find time to read the Bible and study some Bible courses. But he honestly confesses to his weakness of watching porn, which he often finds he cannot control himself to overcome it.

For this reason, he had hoped that he could get married as soon as possible, thinking that if he got married, he would not struggle with those sins. He also saw his own problems and felt bad about himself. He often confesses to the Lord, and he really doesn’t want to sin or offend God. However, after trying his best, he would still be ruled by sin, without knowing how to deal with it.

Recently, Brother Xiaoshi once again talked about this topic with the co-workers of the Christian Times, saying that he is still struggling. But during these days, he chose to get closer to the Lord, read the scriptures, and listened to the Lord. In the scriptures, he was constantly convinced that “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. I have also crucified the flesh, and I believe. I do believe!” He said that he wanted to clean his body, mind, and spirit, making the Lord Jesus preeminent in everything.

In fact, it is very normal for young brothers in their 20s to have sexual desire. But Christians should be wary of falling into the trap of pornography because of emptiness, boredom, or seeking excitement. Christians should also be aware that they cannot overcome the domain of darkness by their own willpower but can only flee youthful passions by getting closer to the Lord and the love of the Lord. It is also important that Christians must reject the domination of sin in us.

Faith is a fierce battle. Today, people in most places don’t need to give their lives for faith, but for the sins in our lives, we also need to fight against them with steadfast purpose even to the point of “death”.
