Religious groups in Shanghai initiated the first plenary session of the multi-department meeting in 2024.

According to Shanghai CC&TSPM, during the meeting on March 14, attendees reviewed last year's work and clarified the work plan for 2024, including a discussion on how to make the most of the multi-department meeting and further develop the brand of "Preaching in Shanghai."

It was mentioned that in 2023, Shanghai's religious organizations prioritized improving group construction, enforcing strict governance of religions, promoting education centered on "Advocating Frugality and Abstaining from Extravagance," implementing practices of developing religions in the Chinese context, and continuing to conduct public charity.

At the meeting, there was a focus on the need for distinct religious groups in Shanghai to improve their learning system, carry out studies of different types at different levels, study and implement Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and the General Secretary’s important exposition on religious work.

The meeting also called for the initiation of joint learning and exchange activities in 2024 to enhance collaboration among Shanghai's different religious groups, aiming to facilitate the sharing of efficient practices in group management and promote the implementation of the principle that religions in China must be Chinese in orientation.
