Recently, the Huangpu District Christian Council of Shanghai visited the local government who has been doing for a long time with regards to the removal of an illegally inhabited building situated next to a church.

According to the Shanghai CC&TSPM, the building in question is adjacent to the Pure Heart Christian Church in Huangpu district and has been empty since 2013. Legal changes regarding the ownership of the building as well as business information changes caused the building to be unmanaged for a long time. As a result of this, the building glass shattered and people began to enter unlawfully at will, which not only compromised the security of the residents of the district but also presented the church with a new threat to their safety. Consequently, the demolition work was officially launched on July 16.

On August 11, 2021, Rev. Jiang Xili, director of the Huangpu District CC, visited several units and departments including the Standing Committee of the District People's Congress, the District Urban Management Administration, and Law Enforcement Bureau, the District Leading Group Office for the Remediation of Illegal Buildings, and the Old Ximen Street. She sent some presents to the staff to show her appreciation for their hard work in the summer days for the demolition of illegal structures.
