Guangdong Megachurch Holds Retirement Ceremony for Former Senior Pastor

On August 24, 2019, the retirement ceremony for a megachurch's former senior pastor was held in Guangzhou Zion Church.

Born in Guangzhou and growing up in a Christian family, Rev. Feng Hao was engaged in serving the church in Guangzhou since 1985, said the church. He held the post of senior pastor of Zion Church from 1994 to mid 2019.

After graduation from China's national Nanjing Union Theological Seminary in 1985, he presided over major projects including the renovation of Zion Church and construction of Tianhe Church, the largest church in Guangzhou. He was ordained pastor in 1990 and was the chairman of Guangzhou Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM) from 2001 to 2019. He also worked as the general secretary and president of Guangzhou Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA).

His other contributions include his involvement in the spiritual formation of church volunteers, theological training, church management, and promoting the communication between the church in Guangzhou and other Christian groups in other countries and districts.

Hired as the megachurch's advisory pastor, Rev. Feng received the employment certificate of the church's senior pastor, Rev. Yang Yongchun.

It is said more than 1,800 people worship in the Sunday service conducted in Zion Church.
