After nearly half a month of preparation, Gushi County CC&TSPM held a contest on biblical knowledge for Christians in Dongguan Church, in Henan Province.

Held on November 9, the contest contained three parts: a written examination, a challenge quiz, and a debate, according to the county CC&TSPM.

Pastor Hong Nianqin, the chairman and president of Gushi County CC&TSPM, gave a speech to encourage everyone to actively participate in the contest. The purpose of the contest was not to compete for first place, but to demonstrate the knowledge that the contestants had acquired.

The first part of the contest was a written examination, containing fill-in-the-blank, multiple-choice and true or false questions. The exam covered the first five lessons in the course. After half an hour of intense answering, the examiner selected the top 18 persons from all the townships.

The second part of the contest was a challenge quiz. They selected one responder and one person to provide the answer from each township. After answering the questions, the judges scored the answers of each representative. They removed the highest score and the lowest score, and used the remaining average as each township’s final score. After the challenge quiz, the top 8 entered the finals.

The third stage of the contest was a debate, and the eight townships’ representatives drew lots to decide which issue they would defend. In the finals, the four topics were about whether Christians could divorce, whether the church needed to support a pastor, whether Christians could keep dragon and phoenix patterns in their homes, and whether Christians could work hard and become wealthy. The contestants defended their positions on each of these issues.

Finally, the local religious officers chose the top three finishers.
