Hubei CC&TSPM hosted the inauguration ceremony of a research center for the Sinicization of Christianity in Zhongnan Theological Seminary.

During the unveiling ceremony held last Friday, Rev. Zhu Zhiguo, chairman of the Hubei Provincial CC&TSPM and president of the seminary, delivered a speech on "Grasp new opportunities and embark on a new journey," according to CCC&TSPM.

Rev. Zhu drew a blueprint for the development of the research center from three aspects: "inherit the principle of three-self (self-governance, self-support, and self-propagation)," "construct a grand theology with Chinese characteristics," and "discuss the Chinese model of excellent pastoral care."

Rev. Shan Weixiang, vice-president & general-secretary of China Christian Council, hoped that the research center would take the initiative to introduce resources and talents, and become a talented pool of wisdom inside and outside the province.

Later a seminar on the Sinicization of Christianity was conducted. While 114 papers were received, six teachers' and eight students’ theses were selected to be presented at the meeting. The content of the theses involved the construction of the church’s organization, system construction, pastoral care, Bible interpretation, Chinese culture and Christianity, music, ethics, and social services.

Finally, authors of selected papers received honorary certificates from leaders of the college and specially invited experts.
