Some churches in Liaoning and a church in Jiangxi resumed in-person gatherings, while a Ningbo church in Zhejiang closed due to the second wave of COVID-19.

After officials downgraded all areas in Dalian, Liaoning, to low risk as of December 4, Gospel Church in Jiefang Road, Zhongshan District, announced the resumption of face-to-face gatherings from December 9, while Yuguang Street Church in Zhongshan District and Shuishiying Church in Lüshunkou District from Sunday, December 12.

After one month’s suspension, Yushui Church in Xinyu, Jiangxi, on December 6 announced that it would resume in-person Bible studies on Thursday and three services on Sunday and that a holy communion service would be conducted on December 12.

The next day, on its official WeChat account, Ningbo Centennial Church stated that it would implement a “double suspension” measure, which refers to the suspension of the opening of places of worship and of religious gatherings. Believers were reminded to attend the virtual Sunday service after three cases were reported on Monday in the city, which initiated an I-level emergency response on Tuesday.
