A prayer meeting was held in a Guangdong church for the swift end to COVID-19 in Hong Kong.

More than 70 pastoral staff in Guangzhou attended the meeting in Dongshan Church on March 1, which was hosted by Rev. Chen Shuisheng, executive vice president of Guangzhou Christian Council (CC), Guangzhou CC&TSPM reported.

In the meeting, the members of Guangzhou CC&TSPM led pastoral co-workers in praying that Hong Kong will recover from the pandemic and restore peace, joy, prosperity, and stability.

Paying close attention to the latest wave of COVID-19 in Hong Kong which hit a new record, Guangzhou churches sent letters to Hong Kong churches, organizations, and individuals, praying for them in Sunday services and other gatherings.

According to Beijing Daily, Hong Kong detected 55,353 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on March 1, posting the biggest single-day pandemic case count, said by a doctor of Hong Kong Center for Health Protection.

The fifth wave began with the first community transmission of the Omicron strain of COVID-19 on December 31, 2021, Hong Kong Economic Times reported.
