Guangdong Church to Launch Virtual Lecture on Coping With Depression

A church in China’s southern-coastal Guangdong Province announced to hold an online lecture on how to cope with depression and maintain mental health.

On its official WeChat account on April 18, Zion Church in Guangzhou, stated that it would host a virtual lecture on April 23 given by a female Christian named Chen Yulin, a psychology graduate student from the University of Hong Kong, a national psychological counselor, and an internationally accredited business coach. Plus, people suffering from depression will get prayer from a prayer group consisting of Rev. Yongchun and Rev. Wu Lijuan of the church.

In addition, the church published an article written by Chen on how to deal with anxiety and insomnia, helping people deal with insomnia and emotional issues during the COVID-19 crisis.

In the article, Chen advised Christians to live with negative emotions and not to be on their smart phone all day long. She suggested that people do some immersive activities, such as handicraft, painting, reading, sports, or learning a course. To sleep better, Christians were reminded to use soothing techniques to ease insomnia due to anxiety and depression. Finally, it was mentioned that the faith in God could make them healthier
