A church in China’s southeastern coastal Guangdong Province said that it would carry out systematic theology course training for staff workers and believers.

Shamian Church (or Christ Church Shameen) in Guangzhou released a notice on October 26, stating Dr. Yu Liang, a full-time teacher from Guangdong Union Theological Seminary was invited to give lectures on Sunday afternoons from November 6 to December 4 followed by the awarding of study certificates.

The course focuses on the ideas of Protestant theologians, such as Augustine, Luther, and Calvin. It includes five lectures: The Speaking God (Introduction, Theology), Creation (Creationism, Anthropology), The Atonement of Christ (Sinology, Christology), Salvation of the Holy Spirit (Spirituality, Soteriology), and The Church of the End Times (Ecclesiology, Eschatology)

Gaining a Ph.D. degree in the history of Christian thought in Foreign Philosophy from Peking University, a Master’s degree in Philosophy, and a Bachelor’s degree in Arts from Wuhan University, Yu is now teaching Systematic Theology and Patristics at the seminary.

Built by the Anglican Church in 1864, Shamian Church was a special church for foreign worship in the British Concession in Guangzhou.
