The Institute of Sino-Christian Studies earlier released the Chinese edition of Dietrich Bonhoeffer: Theologe im Widerstand.

According to China's Institute of World Religions website, the book's author, Professor Christiane Tietz, is an international expert on Bonhoeffer at the University of Zurich's Institute of Hermeneutics and Philosophy of Religion. Her book documents and evaluates Bonhoeffer's life and thoughts against the background of the anti-fascist resistance movement in Nazi Germany during the Second World War.

Although the book is relatively condensed compared to other biographies of Bonhoeffer, it is of great importance, especially in terms of its scholarly weight. It can serve as an introduction for general readers to understand Bonhoeffer's life and thought, and also be a reference for academic researchers to interpret Bonhoeffer's classic works, which is of considerable value and significance for the study of Bonhoeffer in Chinese academia and intellectual communities.

The author, Professor Christiane Tietz, is a professor at the Institute of Hermeneutics and Philosophy of Religion at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. From 2008 to 2018, Professor Tietz served as the chairperson of the German language section of the International Bonhoeffer Society.

The translator, Dr. Huang Ying, holds a Ph.D. from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, and she has been a post-doctoral research fellow at Zhejiang University. Dr. Ying is currently a research associate at the Institute of World Religions of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the author of Von der religiösen Gemeinschaft zum Reich Gottes: das Verständnis von Religion in Bonhoeffers frühen Schriften (1924-1935).
