The first batch of Chinese Athletes from table tennis, swimming and women's football team has finally arrived in Sao Paulo's Esporte Club Pinheiros, the training base of Chinese Olympic delegation for the coming Rio Olympics Games.

There were a total of 17 teams from China who will use the club in Brazil to train and adapt as well as recover from jet lag before the August 5-21 Games, according to the introduction from Chinese Olympic delegation officials.

It is said that half of the delegation of China will go to the training base. The number of people in Sao Paulo is expected to reach about 400 including athletes, coaches, officials and supporting staff.

After their preparation, the delegation will travel to Rio which is 430 kilometers northeast from Sao Paulo. They will stay in the Olympic Village during competition.

The Esporte Club Pinheiros covers an area of 170,000 square meters, equivalent to 10 football pitches.

The training base was decided after 18 months of negotiations between Chinese officials and the club's administrators.

Meanwhile, to lessen disruption to its 38,000 members, the club will schedule times in which its facilities will only be available for China's athletes.

The facilities have already been rented by China between July 22 and August 15.

The club houses facilities for 15 sports: table tennis, artistic gymnastics, swimming, badminton, football, tennis, rugby, water polo, volleyball, fencing, boxing, athletics, synchronised swimming, modern pentathlon and taekwondo.

China has also booked almost all of the rooms available at the hotel near the venue.

It is the only country preparing for the Games outside Rio.
