On June 16, Pastor Bai Yu'e shared the thirteenth sermon in an online series on the church’s revival. In her sermon she said that if we wanted to experience individual, church and kingdom revival, we should do the following: Everyone should deny himself and live for others; we should  be an example to the flock of believers; we should confess our sin, humble ourselves and repent.

Self-denial

On the road to renewal, we should learn to deny ourselves and become selfless.

At first God gave us the authority to manage the world, because at that time people were not selfish because God was with them. When did humans lose the right to take care of their lives? When people sinned, became selfish and corrupt, then they lost their God-given right that He had given them in the first place.

Today, how do we restore the rights given by God and experience revival?

Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24)

Jesus showed the way: we should deny ourselves. Self is the starting point, self-denial is the method, and selflessness is the end goal.

To make our lives worthwhile and meaningful, we need to imitate and follow the Lord. Because one soul is more precious than the world, we have to pray, visit, dedicate, and serve others. When you find that your life has been changed, you will be filled with a sense of accomplishment, full of joy and satisfaction.

Be an example for believers and lead a godly life to attract them to the Lord.

Be shepherds of God’s flock that are under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. (1 Peter 5:2-3)

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. (1 Timothy 4:12)

Today in the church of God, we must shepherd others. How do we shepherd the flock of God? We should serve by example throughout our life, rely on the Lord and repent completely, distance ourselves from all sin, and strive to be an example for believers.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

It is a godly life that attracts people. The renewed life can influence others.

Do not escape after committing a sin, but come to God to repent.

What is sin? At first in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve rebelled against God. This sin resulted in death, which separated us from God. Sin is definitely serious, and it can ferment, so we need to purge it.

Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. (Romans 6:12)

Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. (Romans 6:13)

How does this sin take over our lives? It is we who let and allow sin to come into our lives, and we make the decision to have our body be used as an instrument of wickedness. Having sinned, I have a guilty conscience, feel that I am not fit to go to church, and choose to separate myself from God.

Although we sin, Jesus still loves us, and God never leaves us. Jesus is full of love and compassion. As long as you come to him and repent sincerely, he will forgive you.

What is repentance? The first thing is to be conscious of sin

When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: (John 16:8)

How do you know what sin you have? You can beg Holy Spirit to reveal this to you. If the Spirit of God does not illuminate the sin, we will not see the sin and the kind of pain and punishment caused by sin in ourselves. No matter how many sins we have committed, if we come to the Lord with sorrow and conviction, he will forgive us.

When you repent, you should also hate evil. Only if you hate evil, can you avoid sin.

" Let those who love the LORD hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked." (Ps 97:10)

Jesus’ death on the cross can purge all our sins. It is his blood that is poured out to purify all our sins. His death can solve the problem of our sins.

Only if we die to sin and live for the Lord can we usher in the revival of the church.
