A megachurch in Zhejiang participated in the epidemic prevention and control in a variety of ways as the cases of COVID-19 surged.

A new wave of the epidemic broke out due to four confirmed cases on August 2 in Yiwu of Jinhua. Rev. Xu Yaojin, senior pastor of New Grace Church in Yiwu and chairman of the Jinhua CC&TSPM and Yiwu CC&TSPM, suggested that the epidemic prevention department should set up mobile nucleic acid testing sites to meet people’s demands, which was adopted. The remaining personnel of the units in some special geographical locations in the sealed area could not go to the fixed sites for nucleic acid testing. The mobile nucleic acid sampling teams could provide door-to-door services for the elderly, disabled, and those who were unable to reach the solid sites within the jurisdiction, the church said.

Pastor Huo Pengfei was sent as a volunteer to be the code scanning specialist and driver’s assistant in the transit centers and mobile points of the Jiangdong Sub-district after the relevant protection training of professional personnel.

Besides donating money and materials, believers of the church participated in anti-pandemic activities, such as distributing supplies, maintaining order, and assisting with nucleic acid testing.

From 12 am to 8 pm on August 17, three new positive cases were detected during centralized isolation in the commercial and trade city. Since the outbreak occurred on August 2, Yiwu has reported 692 positive cases, including 91 confirmed cases and 601 asymptomatic individuals, according to the Yiwu press conference on epidemic prevention and control on Tuesday.
