A non-governmental charity organization in Jiangsu participated in a training course held by Quality End of Life Care for All (QELCA).

Recently, Zhenjiang Reed's Home fellow workers participated in the QELCA Training Course, which was jointly organized by the Beijing Living Will Promotion Association and UK St. Christopher's Care, according to Reed's Home. Dr. Yue Guang and Dr. Yan Liu, chief physicians of the Palliative Care Department of Zhenjiang Third People’s Hospital, were invited as trainers.

A total of eight trainees participated in this event, including nursing professors, pain management doctors, medical social workers, social workers for the elderly, palliative care nurses, and palliative care graduates. According to the requirements of QELCA, they need to complete five days of intensive theoretical study and six months of clinical practice.

In this course, teachers introduced the general situation and difficulties of palliative care, as well as the development of palliative care policies, laws, and regulations in China. Participants shared their understanding and feelings about death and palliative care with personal reflective discussions on "what do I need if I’m dying".

QELCA was initiated in 2008 by St. Christopher's Care in London, UK, the birthplace of palliative care, with the aim of providing patients with high-quality care at the end of life, as well as helping their family members face the situation.
