On April 21, 2020, all teachers of Shandong Theological Seminary attended a reading symposium in the large conference room in honor of the 25th World Book Day.

Pastor Wang Mengkun, director-general of Shangdong CC&TSPM, shared his belief in the importance of reading and the healthy development of theological education, according to CCC&TSPM. He gave examples of famous scholars and their experience with reading, including some of their famous sayings. He encouraged everyone to study diligently, think deeply, cultivate religious maturity, improve their teaching level and academic abilities, and actively contribute to the healthy development of theological education in Shandong.

Mr. Shi Jilong, who is in charge of the library, introduced the latest developments in college libraries, as well as current challenges and opportunities. Given the current situation of the Shandong Theological Seminary Library, he put forward suggestions for the future development of libraries. Pastor He Aixia shared her own experience, describing what she has learned from reading. She encouraged everyone to learn from the hard-working spirit of our forefathers and to improve their comprehensive ability through a combination of intensive and extensive reading.

Pastor Gao Ming affirmed the presentations that were given. He pointed out that in order to strengthen the library and build a learning service team, the Shangdong CC&TSPM has introduced persons with professional management skills, enriched the library collections, and optimized the reading room facilities. In particular, they purchased books on traditional Chinese culture and the sinicization of Christianity and hoped everyone would deepen their theological thinking through reading so that together they can promote the development of Qilu theological thought. He also encouraged people to recommend books to the library that they needed academic research and teaching.

More than 40 people, including Pastoral staff of Shandong CC&TSPM participated in the discussion.
