The Chaoyang District Civil Affairs Bureau in Beijing has shut down the "Mormon Church Beijing Chapter" for operating without proper registration.
According to a June 22 announcement, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had been functioning as a social organization without registering with authorities, violating the "Regulations on the Registration and Administration of Social Organizations." The closure was carried out in line with these regulations and the "Measures for Banning Illegal Social Organizations."
