On April 23, on the occasion of the 30th World Book Day, Nantong Overseas Chinese Library unveiled its bookcrossing station in Milan, Italy, with Nantong, Jiangsu Province, participating online.
According to the library, the book crossing station was established in cooperation with the Nantong Overseas Chinese Library (hereinafter referred to as the "Overseas Chinese Library") and the Scuola Cinese Cristiana Italiana di Milano. The two sides signed an agreement on April 23 last year on the 29th World Book Day. After a whole year of preparation, it was finally completed and inaugurated with the support of Nanjing Yuhua Experimental Primary School.
Lin Shaoyu, the principal of Scuola Cinese Cristiana Italiana di Milano, presided over the unveiling ceremony. Zhen Xiang, the initiator of the Overseas Chinese Library, and Xia Tongqian, the principal of Nanjing Yuhua Experimental Primary School, delivered speeches through the video link.
According to People's Daily Online, the Overseas Chinese Library, which opened in 2019, was donated by thousands of overseas Chinese from more than 50 countries and regions. Since the end of 2021, 121 bookcrossing stations have been set up in 56 countries so far, and nearly 50,000 books have been donated.
