The Institute for the Study of Buddhism and Religious Theory and the School of Philosophy at Renmin University of China are set to co-host an academic seminar titled "The Reformation and the Modern World" from October 17 to 19. The event seeks to advance interdisciplinary research in this area and foster the development of an academic community.
According to Chinese Christian Studies Network (ChineseCS.cn), the seminar will feature in-depth discussions on seven key themes: the thoughts and classics of the Reformers; the Reformation and the rise of modern society and thought; its connections with the Church Fathers and medieval traditions; its relationship with the Renaissance; its influence on modern theology; paradigmatic approaches to Reformation studies; and other related topics.
Recognized as a vital field within modern Western scholarship, Reformation studies are expected to become an essential part of Chinese scholarship on Western studies. This seminar will serve as a platform for scholarly exchange and collaboration, promoting integration and growth in multiple disciplines.
Conference participants will be provided with meals and accommodation by the organizers.
