Taiyuan Municipal CC&TSPM in Shanxi Province organized a symposium focusing on the sinicization of Christianity.

On February 19, Taiyuan CC&TSPM hosted a forum about the sinicization of Christianity at the Qiaotoujie Church, with the participation of 200 people, said CCC&TSPM.

Professor Ning Junwei from the School of Philosophy at Shanxi University was invited to deliver, lecturing on the theme "Research on the Expression of 'Shangdi' and 'Tian' in Chinese and Western Culture—Also on the Sinicization of Religion." Professor Ning discussed the impact of Christianity on the concepts of "God" and "Heaven" in Chinese culture, including how the concept of "God" evolved from the perspective of Chinese tradition as well as how the introduction of Christian culture altered the understanding of the concept of "Heaven" in Chinese culture during cultural exchanges.

Attendees of this event expressed a deeper understanding of the evolution of the concepts of "Shangdi," "Tian," and "Tianzhu."

Note: “Shangdi,” “Tian,” and “Tianzhu” in the article are all Pinyin in Chinese, meaning “God” (the almighty existence), “Heaven,” and “God” (lord of heaven).
