Recently, Luohu Church in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, hosted a birthday celebration for more than 50 elderly congregants aged 65 and above.
According to Shenzhen Church, during the event, Rev. Meng delivered a message themed "Inheritance of Love," emphasizing that gray hair is not merely a sign of aging but a badge of life experience and an embodiment of wisdom and testimony. He noted that the younger generation's care for the elderly is an expression of reverence for life itself, representing a true inheritance of love.
Amid the hymn "It's Good to Know You," the church presented birthday cakes and gifts to the senior believers. The celebration also included games, personal testimonies of life transformation, and a dance performance in which the elderly participants joined in singing and dancing. Aunt Zhu, who is over 80, remarked, "Thanks for the church's love and care. It's wonderful that love unites us!"
Established in 2011 through the joint efforts of Shenzhen Church and Heping Church, Luohu Church acquired a six-story building in the Liantang High-tech Industrial Zone to serve as its gathering place, addressing the district's lack of a fixed church property. After collaborative efforts from pastoral staff and congregants, the church held its first Sunday service on June 16, 2013. By 2015, Luohu Church had grown to around 300 members and developed various choirs, fellowships, and service teams. The church actively engages in community services, including parent-child education, marriage and family counseling, and cultural and recreational charities.
