On June 18, five applicants for doctorates in pastoral theology of the Nanjing Union Theological Seminary completed their thesis defense.
The five applicants who were enrolled in 2021 are Liu Kai, Bai Ming, Su Xile, Xing Tiefu, and Wang Zuomou. Their dissertation titles are "Pastoral Care and Counseling for Christians' Bereavement—Taking Zhoukou City, Henan Province," as an example; "Coping Strategies for Young Christians' Depression—Based on God Attachment" and "Belief Self-esteem; Spiritual Elements of Etiquette Space and Pastoral Application: Exploring the Image Design of Church Space"; "Research on the Challenges and Coping Strategies of Young Pastoral Staff's Marriage and Family"; and "Church Pastoral Dilemma and Coping Strategies—Based on the Cases of Guizhou Province," reported the school.
The five doctoral students passed the pre-defense in March this year and were anonymously evaluated by experts outside the college and given permission to defend their dissertations.
Finally, the Defense Committee announced that the five doctoral students had passed the defense, and suggested the award of a doctoral degree in pastoral theology.
This is the second pastoral theology doctoral thesis defense held by the college after the three doctoral students who were enrolled in 2017 passed their defense in December 2020.
